So we've peaked at around 5 degrees C for about the last 24 hours or so, and yes the mercury will fall for the next day, but should climb back up for the remainder of the week. Although temperature swings can be a dangerous sign of things to come, I'm going to play the optimist card and look at this as a positive sign!
With the amount of snow we have seen over the past 2-3 months, it can be a bit nerve wracking to see what lies beneath. Will we have any disease activity? Were there hydration issues with the turf plant or even ice damage? These are just a couple of questions that only time will answer. But no matter what, after all of the plowing and snow removal, we are sure to have one heck of a mess to clean up soon!
Now that we have finally had some sort of break from snow removal, I have finally been able to get a few things accomplished within the Turf Care Centre. Our benches have been cleaned, repaired, and painted. The ball washers have received an invigorating coat of paint, and I am currently in the process of refurbishing some old bunker rakes. There are still many things to do prior to that opening swing of the 2011 season, and hopefully Mother Nature will give me the chance to get at it!
Oh, and I almost forgot, yes it is true that I beat our Pro in the first round of simulated golf here at Sawmill. (Thank you to all who sent congratulatory emails). I'd also like to announce that I have retired from any competition golf events from this point forward. I figure my golf career peaked with that defining chip and putt performance I had on 18, and I'd like to go out on top! :)
