What a Season Closer That Was!

Good sunny afternoon,

The sun is back again, but it appears as though we are in for some cold rains for the rest of the week.  The mercury seems to keep going lower.....

What a day we had out here yesterday!  It was the world famous Sawmill Creek Season closer, complete with the world famous chili tent!  We had a fantastic day, complete with some sunshine, and a lot of laughs.  I will say, I have never in my life had as much fun setting up any golf course for play, in my entire career.  Judging by the many compliments we had yesterday, and the several emails today, I would guess that you had just as much fun as we did.

Although I don't want to give away all of our secrets to those unfortunate members who could not make it yesterday, here are just a couple of shots of the action from yesterday's Season Closer, "Jamie's Revenge"...

Thank you all who took part in yesterday's festivities; we certainly had a lot of fun.  And by the way, I am ecstatic to see that there wasn't a single suggestion in the suggestion box, which means only one thing; you must be happy!  (Well done on the construction of the box by the way Bryan!)

Incredibaly enough, dollar spot is still showing its teeth on many of our aprons and collars.  At this time of year, there really is not much sense in treating it, as it should stop.....any day.....really.....

Just to remind you again that the greens aerification process will begin next Monday the 24th.  This will take us at least 3 days at this time of year due to the lack of light, and of course only if Mother Nature cooperates!

We have started to vertical mow the fairways today, and this will continue over the next few days.  This is another one of those cultural practices that I wish we did more throughout the year, as it is extremely beneficial to our bent grass fairways.

These next two weeks are really the last chance that we will have to get any projects done, as we will be down to just Bryan and myself as of the 31st.  It is still tough to believe that we are already at that time of year!  The golf course will be closed as of Monday November 14th.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at
